Meeting Needs

A non-profit organization, Hollenbeck Palms has an endowment fund which is a dedicated and permanent source of funding. Each year, a portion of the interest from the endowment is used to fulfill Hollenbeck Palms’ mission, while the balance is used to grow and support future needs. Hollenbeck Palms does not have nor does it distribute any funds to shareholders or owners.

Our Skilled Nursing Center staff provides exemplary care to our residents who require around-the-clock attention. Time and again, this experienced staff combines compassion and kindness as they strive to provide the best individualized care to each Skilled Nursing Center resident. In recent years, the environment and building in which they have been housed had become outdated and in need of renovation and construction.

To address these issues, Hollenbeck embarked on a campaign to construct a new wing in our Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) and erect a separate state-of-the-art Memory Enhancement Center. This ambitious plan will allow Hollenbeck Palms to meet the needs of all its current residents and those yet to come. Currently, there are a total of 59 SNF beds and we will soon add an additional 33 memory care beds on Hollenbeck Palms’ campus for our residents who need around the clock care as well as those living with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Our new Skilled Nursing Facility features:

  • A new 10,000 square-foot, 27-bed Skilled Nursing Center to replace the current 1950's vintage West Wing.
  • Rooms with additional space for personal belongings.
  • Larger bathrooms to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Expanded common space to encourage social interaction for patients and their families.
  • Expanded clinic facilities to meet patients' growing needs.
  • Electronic medical records system to provide more accurate and efficient health services.
  • The ability to allow couples to stay together on the same campus, receiving different levels of care, at a time when one spouse needs extra attention.
  • Enhanced work spaces to accommodate all staff.

For our Memory Enhancement Center, this campaign will:

  • Erect a two-story, 33-bed, secure assisted living and memory care building, complete with dementia-friendly devices, decorations and activities, to replace the existing center wing of Heideman Care Center.
  • Provide 24-hour personnel to assist patients when the need arises.
  • Build bathrooms to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.
  • Ensure continuity of existing services and programs during construction.
  • Allow couples to stay together on the same campus, receiving different levels of care, at a time when one spouse needs extra attention.
  • Create Green Space, an enclosed and secure garden for our patients living with Alzheimer's and dementia.
  • Provide 20 additional parking spaces exclusively for the Skilled Nursing and Memory Enhancement wing of the campus.

Construction began in Spring of 2014 and will continue until approximately the end of 2020.
