Lifestyle & AmenitiesLifelong Learning

We provide a comprehensive and extensive program for educational, artistic, and cultural activities. Our educational enrichment center includes a well-equipped library and computer section. Lecturers from USC and California State University, LA regularly visit to cover topics from the History of Jazz to the Constitution. We even reach to the stars with our visiting professors from the Carnegie Observatory.

Music Performances

Music is central to Hollenbeck Palms, and we have a number of popular, regular programs available. Many of our residents also take advantage of our proximity to the Disney Concert Hall and frequently attend the LA Philharmonic concerts.

Opera at Hollenbeck Palms

In 2008, two of our music-loving residents started this program in conjunction with the LA Opera. An opera is screened, followed by a lecture and a Q&A session exploring the history and musical aspects of the opera.

Our Chapel

Built in 1908 by Elizabeth Hollenbeck, our historic non-denominational Chapel is the spiritual center of the community. Our visiting pastoral minister conducts weekend services and weekday group/individual spiritual guidance. With its stunning domed roof and stained glass windows the Chapel is also the perfect acoustic home for music recitals both contemporary and classical. Many singers from LA Opera have performed in the Chapel, and the Ebell Choir has a longstanding engagement every Christmas and spring. This is also the home of our regular meditation classes.

Recitals in Rose Parlor

Each month, we hold intimate piano or string performances in our elegant Rose Parlor, open to friends and family.

Visual Arts

Engaging with the visual arts—whether creating or viewing—can relieve stress and improve memory. Hollenbeck Palms residents regularly visit the many museums and art galleries in Los Angeles. We also have a purpose built Art Studio for those eager to explore their creativity.
